Toronto products Nkansah and Philip were both named Greater Toronto Area (GTA) all-stars this season. Nkansah is a 6'1, 205-pound linebacker from Chaminade High School in Toronto, while Philip is a 6'2, 215-pound linebacker from Don Bosco High School in Toronto.
Both men also played for the Etobicoke Eagles of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
"Nana and Denzel both have tremendous ability. We knew that no matter which team they chose, they would be impact players immediately and we are thrilled they have decided to join the York Lions football program," said head coach Warren Craney. "Adding talented players such as Nana and Denzel to the group of recruits we've already brought in will only accelerate the quality of the on-field product."
Nkansah and Philip join a long list of players already committed to the Lions football program. The team will begin the 2011 season on Labour Day (Monday, Sept. 5) at home against the Laurier Golden Hawks beginning at 1pm.
