Dillon Guy, who spent last season solidifying the Ottawa Sooners' offensive line, will report to the University of Buffalo's football program next month on a full scholarship.
The Hamilton native, who played last season under Sooners coach Andy McEvoy, spent some nervous months waiting for a call from NCAA recruiters before UB came through.

"I'm very happy and relieved after trying to get a scholarship for the last two years," said the 19-year-old, who played his high school football at Hamilton's Waterdown District High School before spending a year with Champlain-Lennoxville of the CEGEP League.
"I credit them for making me the football player I am today," said Guy of the Quebec league. "(Playing for the Sooners) I got great exposure to university scouts and had the great privilege of working under some great coaches (like McEvoy.)"
Sooners recruiter Tristano Raponi met with staff in Buffalo and sent along a highlight tape that piqued interest among recruiters. Sooners offensive line coach and assistant co-ordinator Steve Campagna played a big role in helping seal the deal.
"(Guy) signed on with us because he knows we can help a lot of kids get down to the NCAA," said Raponi, who said Virginia and University of Connecticut also expressed interest in Guy.
"For Dillon, it's a big dream come true, and for (the Sooners) it just solidifies the fact that our program is not about us as much as it's about helping the kids that come in and play for us. We can give him that opportunity to showcase his talent, and a lot of times it is the film (highlights) that get sent down to schools that expose these kids to the school."
